Candida dubliniensis fungemia: the first four cases in North America.

چکیده
We report the first four North American cases of Candida dubliniensis fungemia, including the first isolation of this organism from the bloodstream of an HIV-infected person. All isolates were susceptible in vitro to commonly used antifungal drugs. This report demonstrates that C. dubliniensis can cause bloodstream infection; however, the incidence of disease is not known.

Candida dubliniensis spondylodiscitis in an immunocompetent patient. Case report and review of the literature☆
We describe what appears to be the first case of spondylodiscitis due to Candida dubliniensis. Our case adds to the current literature of the importance of C. dubliniensis as a cause of fungemia and subsequent deep seated infections. It highlights the importance of taking fungal as well as bacterial culture from biopsy specimens in patients with spondylodiscitis. We also review the literature c...
متن کاملCould Candida dubliniensis be involved in lung fungus balls?
We describe a case of cavitary pneumonia due to Candida dubliniensis along with fungemia due to Candida kefyr in a leukemic patient. This is the first case of C. dubliniensis isolated in our laboratory. The identification was performed by phenotypic and molecular methods such as thermotolerance test, carbohydrate fermentation and polymerase chain reaction.
متن کاملCandida dubliniensis Meningitis as Delayed Sequela of Treated C. dubliniensis Fungemia
We present a case of Candida dubliniensis meningitis that developed 2 months after apparently successful treatment of an episode of C. dubliniensis candidemia in a heart-lung transplant recipient in Australia. This case highlights the importance of follow-up in patients with candidemia or disseminated infection, especially in immunosuppressed patients.
متن کاملCatheter-related fungemia caused by Candida dubliniensis.
Infections caused by Candida dubliniensis in humans are rare and have never been reported in Taiwan. We report two cancer patients with catheter-related fungemia due to C. dubliniensis infection in Taiwan. The two isolates were confirmed to the species level using an oligonucleotide array system and sequence analysis, and both showed high in vitro susceptibilities to nine antifungal agents. The...
متن کاملSpecific antibody response in a patient with Candida dubliniensis fungemia.
We report a case of fungemia caused by Candida dubliniensis in a non-HIV infected patient. Multiple cultures of blood performed over a period of 13 days were positive for this recently described yeast species. The C. dubliniensis isolates recovered were susceptible to fluconazole in vitro and the patient responded to intravenous therapy with this antifungal agent. It was possible to differentia...
